Years of research by the John Hopkins School of Medicine has shined a light on the link between hearing health and brain health.
They have found that there is a correlation between moderate hearing loss and walking issues, falls, and dementia.
From brain scans, they have gathered that hearing loss may factor into a faster rate of atrophy in the brain. In addition, hearing loss contributes to social isolation which is known to accelerate cognitive decline. Many people do not know that the ears also play a major role in balancing when walk.
Subconsciously, your ears are always gathering subtle clues as you walk about your surroundings. For all of these potential health problems, hearing aids have been shown to improve the quality of life for individuals who no longer have to isolate themselves or stumble in their surroundings.
